Before coming to Crossing the Jordan, my life was a minimal existence. Today, living in community with with Crossing the Jordan, my life has purpose. I am pursuing my vision of being a transformational coach. I have a hope and a future for myself and my children. No dream is too big to achieve.
My name is Madeline, I am 23 years old. I came to Crossing the Jordan to change my life. Before here, I was making very bad choices. Which left me with one option, to put myself in dangerous situations that led me to a life full of shame. Through Jesus, hard work and community, I have finally found my freedom!!!
Before Crossing the Jordan, I was homeless. I was in and out of jail and had lost all hope for life. I've been here 8 months and once again have passion for my life, my job, and others. I have hope & faith that in God's timing my relationships with my children will be restored. I thank God everyday for our Crossing the Jordan family for walking beside me, believing in me and loving me when I did not believe or love myself. Now I do.
The program has given the opportunity to become stable and learn about why I continued falling and how to become a strong man of God, father to my children and lead men to happiness, wholeness with a future filled with passion and endless opportunity.
Crossing the Jordan has given me the value of giving back to my community as a father and husband. I used to be a gang member but left that life to change lives by helping people and it makes me happy doing it.
Before Crossing the Jordan, I was in and out of prison and my default was broken. I was deceitful to avoid being uncomfortable. I had lost hope that I would ever live a normal, happy or productive life. Now, I am living a life with purpose. I love to live in the light instead of the darkness. With the trainings, I have changed my defaults from ignoring uncomfortable situations to facing them head on and accepting the outcome. Life for me is no longer broken and I have hope for a wonderful life. I've established a relationship with my 13-year-old daughter for the first time. I am committed to be her Dad and establishing a relationship between her and her brother. I know my new life is a gift from God.
When Kristi was accepted at Crossing the Jordan, I felt an intense relief that she was finally off the streets and was going to receive help. I was a little afraid to believe she would follow through, but as time went on and I saw how committed she was to the program, there began amazing transformation in her life. Slowly, I was receiving my daughter back! Today, she remains to be an amazing person! She is focused, always moving forward, encouraging others to receive the same help that she has received. Anyone who has doubts about the existence of God, need only talk with Kristi!!
As a supporter of Crossing the Jordan, I have had the privilege of witnessing women change their lives. They have come to CTJ as unhealthy, addicted and hurting women. Over the course of time, these same hurting and broken women are learning a new way of living. They have become confident, healthy, clean and sober. Crossing the Jordan is truly making a difference in our community.
